Problem definition
In early 1999, those responsible at Creanova were confronted with the demand for an improved integration of quality management into the existing SAP R/3 environment. As Creanova has had a very good experience of jwconsulting, Mrs. Batnini, the head of Creanova's IT department, decided to engage jwconsulting to introduce QM into the departments Technical Plastics and Raw Materials for Varnishes.
The project was started in August 1999. After the preliminary concept had been prepared within a short time, it turned out that in the department Raw Materials for Varnishes the QM module in the R/3 standard could be introduced with only very slight adaptations to the conditions at Creanova. The productive start of the QM module was as early as in January 2000, after five months of most intensive work.
In the second phase, following the introduction of QM into the department Raw Materials for Varnishes, it is necessary to meet the QM requirements of the department Technical Plastics, based on the current SAP R/3 release. The integrated mapping of the manufacture and management of specimens, that is, the distribution of specimens and the testing procedure, is one of the special features of the project.
The productive start for this department is scheduled for the middle of 2000. It is a particular advantage of this project that the jw consultants' experience and know-how in the environment of the chemical industry and process manufacturing ensure the desired synergy effects, as the consultants have been working for the Degussa-Hüls concern for long.
